Weaver Camp (Overnight)
Weekdays: priced at R340pppn.
Weekends: priced at R400pppn with a minimum booking of 2 adults per night.
Weaver is a secluded campsite surrounded by large Wild Seringa and Bush Willow trees, it’s been specifically set up for our overnight guests. Like all of our sites, it has no fences so blends beautifully into the surrounding bush. Matamba’s wildlife are constantly in and around the site, creating the perfect camping experience.
Weaver has it’s own fireplace, braai grid and tap for water and it does have an electrical point.
Weaver is connected by a short winding pathway through a woodland to one of our open air, spotlessly clean shared bathrooms. The bathroom is built around a large tree and uses existing rocks as the shower floor, it also has a gas geyser so you’ll never be without hot water. An outside shower built under the spreading branches of indigenous trees offers a totally different experience. It allows you to shower under the warmth of the African sun, the watchful eye of one of the giraffes or below the twinkling stars and a huge silver moon.
A short walk from the bathroom and you’ll also have access to the shared kitchen/wash up area which has two sinks, an info area, a chest freezer with ice (which can be purchased), WiFi access as well as table and chairs for those wishing to swap travelling experiences.
We also have a small splash pool which is situated in the beautiful woodland below the campsite. It has a rustic fence to keep animals and small children out. Surrounded by green lawn with wooden loungers, it is a lovely place to relax, cool off and watch the game wandering past. The pool has a large martini seat, a perfect place to sit and watch the sun setting over the surrounding bush.
Hard braai wood and ice are available to purchase on-site.

Campsite info and guidelines
- You will be given a code for the gate, once on Matamba please follow the signs to Tau Camp and then to Weaver. It is about a 5min drive through the farm to get to the site.
- A reminder that check-in is from 12:00 and the gates close at 18:00. We ask everyone to check out at 10:00 so we have enough time to clean the site and bathrooms for the next guests.
- Once you’ve arrived at the site there is no driving around the farm. This is so the wildlife and other guests are not disturbed. We have 5 lovely walking and cycle routes for everyone to enjoy.
- We ask all guests not to play music so that everyone can enjoy the sound of the bush, animals and birds around them.
- All water at Matamba is pumped from our own boreholes and is perfectly safe to drink, however, it does have a slightly earthy taste.
- Please note there is no collection of firewood from the surrounding area due to the impact this would have on the micro and macroecology of the area. It disrupts the natural cycle and deprives termites of food which in turn affects animals preying on insects like Aardvark.
- During the dry winter months there is a very high fire risk. Please do not leave fires unattended, and extinguish them before going to bed, for a walk or a cycle. If you do start a fire please use the fire beaters to stop it as soon as you can and give us a call so we can deal with it as quickly as possible.
